This jail is one of the worst to begin with, but a thousand times worse if you're a woman. It was built with the intention of being a men's jail so everything is geared towards the men, the women are the lowest rung of the ladder. Afghanistan meets Brevard, the only thing missing is that they don't require the women to cover their faces...yet. The men have microwaves in their pods, they get the books donated from the public and are given underwear. Women get none of that. Doesn't sound like much but when you're in there for a few weeks and have nothing, a fresh pair of underwear would be nice. You get half a bar of soap once a week. They say they're dealing with cutbacks but at any given time of day there are ALWAYS 2-3 officers filling their faces with food and telling you in between bites that they're too busy to get you a maxi pad (no tampons). They cram so many into each pod that there are never enough seats at meal times (UGH) and if you don't get a seat, you're eating on the floor in front of the bathroom. They'll steal anything from you. Thus place is the pits.
